The Healy Growler continues to impress us here at TME - a sleek and refined adaptation of the old double-cut Junior and Special models we know and love. This particular Growler dips into that hybrid build concept, combining the longer scale of a Fender with the set neck construction of a Gibson. Beyond that, thought, we're looking at something much more unique.

With tonewood and finish specs nearly identical to that of the companion Healer we received in the same batch, this Growler has a voice all its own. The Gemini humbuckers are clear and articulate like a low output PAF style wind, but with a bit more fundamental focus, almost like a great P90. With slight tweaks of the Volume and Tone controls, you can coax anything from traditional sweet, round, and airy semi-hollow tones to an almost tele-like cut and attack. It's insane!

In more of a true mid/late 50s Gibson fashion, the round C neck on this Growler is nice and full with a moderate taper. The slightly narrower nut width informs a bit of a friendlier feel for those who don't always vibe with bigger carved necks. There's nothing fatiguing about feel here. As always, the fretwork takes playability to levels very few seem to reach.

Lightweight, responsive, and dialed in with that "small shop" attention to detail, this is a truly inspiring guitar with standout aesthetics and playability that'll make your other guitars blush.

Priced with Reunion Blues gig bag.
