Collings I-35 Deluxe Quilt Tobacco (2011)

"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings

The Collings I-35 Deluxe goes well beyond your typical semi-hollow body guitar build quality-wise, tonally, and visually. There's an almost archtop like beauty and attention to detail with this guitar as evidenced by the black & white purfling, split parallelogram fingerboard inlays, and oh yeah, that quilted maple top - rarely do we get used I-35s in with a top like this one.

Tonally, the mahogany body and carved maple top of this I-35 Deluxe lend a more Les Paul-like punch to the expected airy, open tone of a great semi-hollow guitar. It's a great combination that works well in a variety of contexts - jazzier clean sounds though to biting bridge pickup playing sound fantastic on this guitar. Take a great ES-335 and add a touch more bass and top end and you'll get where this beauty is coming from.

Condition: Very good. There are signs of wear - light pick marks on the top, minor indentations scattered around the body though no worming on the back, a few light indentations on the back of the neck (though you can't feel them when playing), and some light cloudy spots in the finish around the edges of the body. The frets show some wear but there's still plenty of life left.

If you're looking for the best-of-the-best when it comes to an ES-335 style guitar - flawless build quality, finish work, set-up, tones, and looks - look no further, you've arrived! Priced with hardshell case.
