Martin D-45S 1936 Authentic (2012)

$38,900.00

Description

The Martin D-45 is the undisputed king of the flat top guitars. It's the one guitar that everyone seems to know, and the one that everyone aspires to own. Martin made a total of 91 D-45's between the years 1933 and 1942 and then nothing until 1968. From then on Martin issued several variations of the '45, but nothing seemed to come close to the original ones in the terms of sound and accurate build specs. The Authentic Series is their answer to all the purists and collectors longing for instruments made the Old Way.

This recreation of a 1936 D-45 was based entirely off the '36 that was in the Martin Museum in Nazareth, PA. It happens to be the one year where they made a slightly oversized dreadnought with a 16 1/4" lower bout. Need even more bass? This guitar has it. It also features the wider 1 3/4" neck width with a more robust V-profile carve. Everything about this guitar is robust and yet it all feels just right. Especially when you hear what it can do. With premium tone woods pulled from Martin's wood vaults, hide glue construction, and hundreds of man-hours spent to construct it, the 1936 D-45 produces nothing short of Martin acoustic magic.

The condition on this one is collector grade with no issues to report. Neck set, saddle height, and string action are all well within Martin specs. Here's a great opportunity to own a piece of Martin history at a pre-owned price.
