Description
Modeled after a pre-Civil War C.F. Martin guitar, you are looking at one of the more rare, beautiful, historic recreations in existence, and a guitar & maker we are very excited about. A skilled builder's voicing of a more modern x-brace provides for a rich, lively sound with thick, resonant trebles. Single note lines against a bass counterpoint sound lovely, and surprisingly vibrant, given the relatively diminutive size. The Stauffer "Vienna" headstock with brass cover plate is a nod to Martin's teacher, and reflects Martin's own early style. The ornate top inlay is a pattern of alternating pearl and abalone half-circles.
The luthier behind this amazing instrument deserves some introduction. Steve Spodaryk has been a builder for over 10 years, independently, and for several years in the shop of world-renowned luthier Julius Borges. While working for Julius, Steve was involved with all phases of guitar construction and learned his craft well. His work is absolutely top-shelf, the attention to detail inspiring. I only hope that our photos gives you some sense of the intensive labor that went into this guitar.
