Serge DeJonge SSS Presentaion Braz/German
Description
Easily among the "top five" elite guitars in the store, Sergei DeJonge's SSS Brazilian Presentation is an exotic, intimate, seductive work of guitar art. This latest arrival is a presentation-grade Adirondack / Brazilian work of art. DeJonge's sound is a seductive blend of bold, warm, crystalline, and focused all at once. Bright, substantive trebles compete nicely with a crisp bass register for a sophisticated, very engaging experience. We love it. Quite literally, it is a house favorite and standout instrument.
The beautifully-grained Brazilian Rosewood was salvaged from a barn in Brazil and has to be at least 150 years old! Also of particular aesthetic note is the very rare and equally beautiful Snakewood fingerboard, bridge, and binding. This is a most unusual, figured hardwood, functionally similar here to ebony, but with an understated, mottled figure, and more of a red cocobolo/Brazilian coloration. Other notables include an intricate pearl purfling, headstock and bridge inlay, and yes, a side soundport, which refocuses sound amazingly up towards the player.
Regarding finish, DeJonge opts for a classical-luthier's French polish finish. It has an organic, wonderfully handmade look, and is without doubt the best possible finish from a tonal perspective.
Strung with lights, the guitar is exceedingly responsive. The neck profile is a little slimmer than usual, and still quite comfortable.
