Tony Klassen of New Era Guitars has been specializing in Larson Brothers instruments for over 20 years and is now putting his rare expertise to the crafting of these faithful replicas. Tony's guitars remain true to the original Larsen designs, including tensioned (arched) tops and backs and laminated bracing. They all have a warmth and woodiness that one usually associates with older instruments. It's refreshing to see and hear such reverence for one of the finest periods in American lutherie.
Another well-known brand from the Larsen Brothers, Prairie State guitars were known for their ground-breaking size--a full 18" on their super jumbos--and their unique contours. Though not quite as big, this 17" jumbo is captivating both visually and tonally. It features a beautiful set of Brazilian rosewood back and sides and tight-grained Adirondack spruce top. Full, lush, and incredibly robust, it maintains a nice balance and evenness of tone when fingerpicked. And for pick style, it is a powerhouse, with a fat chunkiness that one rarely hears in modern guitars.
