Singer/songwriter, Steve Earle, stumbled upon his first Martin M in Matt Umanov's NYC shop and it's been a steady love affair ever since. So, naturally, he jumped at the opportunity to have Martin make something a bit more in keeping with Steve's maverick, dressed down style. The M-21 combines the austere stylings of both an 18 and a 21-style Martin with all the elegance and refinement placed in the top--a silky Italian Alpine spruce. It imparts a bit more clarity and precision to the box without compromising that gritty, robust depth Steve has always prized in the M. Other features include a low profile, satin finish neck with 1 11/16" nut width, foward-shifted scalloped bracing, and Waverly butterbean style tuning machines.
