The Music Emporium is pleased to offer this incredible-sounding vintage Martin D-28, made in 1948. It's astonishingly clean for its age: we regularly see five-year-old guitars with more wear on their tops. Clearly, this D-28 has been immaculately maintained over the years; and it's already fooled a couple onlookers who thought we were taking a new guitar out of a case when displaying it! The repairs to the guitar include: glued pickguard crack (in the typical place under the B string), overspray to the back of the neck, and a replaced bridge with an extra piece of compensated bone saddle (could be removed without affecting saddle slot). Very comfy medium-low action, with lightning-quick playability.
The sound: absolutely breathtaking. This D-28 has gobs of the warm, punchy midrange the tapered-brace guitars are known for, with smooth overtones galore. Huge, whomping low end, with tightly defined lower mids, perfect for bluegrass rhythm and bass runs. The trebles and bright and crisp, jumping out of the guitar with ease. This instrument's tone is virtually perfect for microphones, whether on stage or in the studio, with a velvety warmth and chunk not found anywhere else.
With period hard case. Please call us for further details.
