LR Baggs' new all-in-one Venue DI is sure to make life easier for acoustic musicians everywhere. Although the LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI has been the industry standard preamp/DI for over a decade, most musicians I know have always brought along atuner to their gigs, if not a boost pedal also. This usually leads to three boxes on the floor to plug-in, power and situate at each setup. The Venue DI combines all of these functions into one sleek, sturdy unit, while still providing the Class A tone that LR Baggs has built their reputation on.
A step up in control from the Para DI, the Venue DI provides two parametric controls that let you really fine-tune and eliminate all those pesky can-like midrange frequencies that plague most acoustic pickups. Along with the standard bass, presence, and treble controls, it also has a sweepable Garret Null notch filter which eliminates feedback in seconds. Any experienced engineer will tell you that setting the proper gain is a very important step in getting the most out of your sound, and the Venue DI takes all the guess work out with a great little VU meter built right in. The Venue DI easily gives you the most direct control of any preamp/DI available. The balanced DI output is transformer coupled, which simply means that it gives you the best isolation from noise possible.
However, it is the additional functions that really set this pedal apart. The tuner footswitch automatically mutes the signal for tuning, and the display is bright and easy to read even from a distance, while tracking very quick and accurately. It will suit even the most demanding alternate tuning connoisseur. The boost footswitch gives you an adjustable amount of gain perfect for that extra push you need for lead work, or to give a little extra support for fingerstyle passages.
