As the quest continues for the truest amplified tone possible, many of our customers are returning to live microphones. After all, nothing capures the natural sound of your instrument better than a good mic. Countryman's ISOMAX 2 series are versatile, tiny condesner microphones that deliver an extremely even and crystal-clear response. We've used them to amplify fiddles, flattop guitars, resonators, mandolins, and even ouds with stellar results. While feedback is an inherent issue when using any microphone live, the ISOMAX has proved sufficently resistant in many settings. This is due to the cardiod and hypercardiod polar response patterns they offer, which are hard to find options in many other condenser mics of this size.
We currently stock the hypercardiod version, with a -60db sensitivity and a 10-foot cable hardwired to a standard XLR connector (model M2HP6FF10). We can special order any of the many different variations of this mic that Countryman offers, including one that can be permanently mounted inside an instrument and wired to a standard output jack. It requires 6 to 50 volt phantom power, with at least 25 volts being optimal. Countryman also makes a battery powered phantom power supply if needed.
