Bill Asher came up with his current lap steel design back in 1998, working with Ben Harper to create an electric instrument that had some of the feel and sustain of Ben's beloved vintage Herman Weissenborns, but simultaneously had tone and look akin to the best Les Pauls. What Bill designed is a true hybrid, and the Asher Ben Harper Signature Edition is one of the most exciting lap steels ever produced.
Every bit as much a Les Paul in tone as it is a lap steel in function, this is a versatile instrument that is an absolute blast to play. The pair of Seymour Duncan Custom Shop '59-Style Humbuckers provide the perfect dose of warm Les Paul tone, round and sweet with loads of gain and sustain.
