LR Baggs M80 Pickup

The M80 Pickup from LR Baggs combines the sound and ultra-cool look for the M1 series with a more body-sensative design to capture the character of the guitar. This makes it a great option for those looking for a very feedback resistant pickup that can be installed temporarily and still sound excellent! Here's the details from LR Baggs:

MAGNETIC PICKUP WITH FULL RANGE BODY SENSITIVITY

The soul of your guitar is in the body - from the tone woods that it’s made of to the fine details in the way it was put together. A typical magnetic pickup hears only dry strings. Our patented and iconic M1 was the first magnetic soundhole pickup to capture the upper frequency resonances of the guitar’s body for a more natural sound. The M80 pushes this idea to the limits by sensing the entire frequency range of the top, back, side and neck resonances in all three dimensions. Tap on the body and you’ll swear that there’s a full range mic inside of the guitar - but it’s all coming from the M80. This all-in-one pickup installs in minutes and faithfully captures more of your guitar’s acoustic soul than any single pickup ever created. Amplify more of the guitar you paid for.

HOW IT WORKS

The secret of the M80 is the patented floating secondary coil that acts both as a humbucking coil and a 3D body sensor. By deftly unlocking the secondary coil a robust full range signal is created as the body vibrates and the floating coil interacts with the magnets. The coil is tuned to respond to the entire frequency range of the guitar and the proprietary suspension allows each axis of the 3D coil to contribute, thereby adding enhanced richness and complexity to the sound. Finally, just the right amount of body signal is added to the string signal for an all-in-one pickup that will capture the character of your guitar like no other magnetic pickup ever created.

Collings Eastside Deluxe LC Prototype (2011)

The Collings Eastside Deluxe LC Prototype is back in the TME showroom, its original owner having obtained a high-profile (and extremely high-volume) gig that necessitated the bite of an I-35 Deluxe. But the Eastside Prototype remained a recording guitar and never left the studio. It's still in mint condition and plays like a dream. These guitars are becoming very hot commodities; and this is an extremely rare chance to own the first one ever produced (at an attractive discount, nonetheless). Please call us if you'd like an in-hand description of the guitar, but you'll note from the photos that it's just as sweet as it ever was.

Collings OM3 German Varnish Deep Body

If you're on the quest for dreadnought-sized tone in an OM, look no further than this Collings OM3, featuring deep-body design and a hand-applied, lustrous varnish finish. This guitar is very light, and screams with tone when driven with a pick. As you'd expect, it's inimitably balanced and crisp-sounding, with a long, musical decay to chords and single notes. Extremely versatile, it would easily be loud enough to power a band but retain the delicacy and note definition folkier styles would demand. Priced with hard case.

Indian Rosewood
German Spruce
Varnish Finish
1 3/4" nut width

Martin OM-28 (1932)

This is a wonderful player's Martin OM-28 made in 1932. It's had several fairly common repairs in it's time: it was professionally refinished long ago; the bridge and bridgeplate have been replaced (the plate is oversized and made of maple); one crack in the top behind the bridge was expertly repaired before the refinish; and the tuners are newer Waverlies. There's been a recent neck set, and the setup is perfect. All other parts of the guitar are original (including the bar frets), and there are no other cracks. As you'd expect, the old-growth Brazilian Rosewood is impeccably quarter-sawn and dead-straight in figure.

It's got the incredible, singing tone players lusting after a pre-war OM-28 dream of, in addition to a boatload of power. Several shop goers have heard us picking it and remarked "Who needs a dreadnought after THAT!" The tone is woody and sparkly, with a thick & lush midrangey chime. Seductive good looks and playability. A "Robin's-Egg blue" Calton Case is included with the guitar.

Old-growth Brazilian Rosewood
Adirondack Spruce
1 3/4" nut width

Bill Asher's Lap Steels are in a leauge of the thier own, never dissapointing in depth or versatility. His design manages to connect the world of acoustic weissenborns to the electric lap steel in a papable and mesmerizing way. These guitars respond much like you would expect an acoustic instrument to, with woody tone and depth that defies the expectations set by those old slab-of-wood lap steels. But that certainly doesn't mean that it lacks bite or electric presence. Simply put, we've never heard another lap steel that is on this level.

The Asher aesthetic is pretty hard to beat also. All of his instruments stunners, but this brings the eye-candy factor to the max. The three-dimensional figure in the maple top of this instrument will make you glad it's so easy to look down at while playing.

SCALE LENGTH: 25 inches

NECK & BODY: neck through solid Honduras mahoganywith cylindrical body chambers

PICKUPS: two Asher custom lap steel pickups

PICKUP SWITCHING: three-way toggle

CONTROLS: master volume and master tone with pull pot to split pickup coils

SADDLE: aluminum

NUT: ebony

STRING SPACING: nut: 1 7/8 inches, bridge: 2 3/8 inches

CASE: custom hard shell

NUMBER OF FRETS: 22

MACHINE HEADS: Kluson by Tone Pros

Here's a used Collings D1 in excellent condition. Only minor signs of wear, including light pick marks and one ding on the treble side, lower bout. The guitar was purchased through our store four years ago, and resided in a well-kept home studio. It's exactly what we've all come to expect from Collings--loud, crisp, balanced and singing, with excellent neck feel and playability. Priced with its original hard case.

Mahogany back & sides
Sitka Spruce top
1 11/16" nut width

Collings UC2 Figured Mahogany

An exceptional mahogany concert ukulele from Collings featuring some very cool flame in the mahogany. Scattered rather uniformly amongst the top, back and sides, the ripples in the wood lend an extra dimension to create a stunning uke that sounds every bit as appealing, with a warm clear bass and shimmering treble. Graced with the usual style 2 appointments; rosewood fret board and bridge, tortoise binding on the top and back with a thin strip of ivoroid sandwiched in between. Peghed tuners and rosewood headstock overlay.

Merrill C-28 Cocobolo (2010)

The Merrill C-28 Cocobolo is undoubtedly the most sought-after dreadnought in our shop these days; and this is an incredibly rare opportunity to acquire a used one. Jim Merrill's Cocobolo guitars compare very favorably to his Brazilians--the voice is a bit drier, with less overtones, but the woody thump is all there. The bass in this guitar will nearly knock you off a stool. The mids are thick and full, and the trebles have a round, broken-in quality with tons of ringing sustain all the way up the fretboard. This guitar is in excellent condition--there are several very slight scratches on the back, and nearly invisible signs of pick wear on the top (all of these are very hard to see with the naked eye). It has a very comfortable, low-profile neck and is perfectly set up for flatpicking. Priced with a Cedar Creek hard case.

Cocobolo back & sides
Adirondack Spruce top
1 23/32" nut width

Burgin Weissenborn Mahogany Rope binding

Paddy Burgin builds a handful of Weissenborn guitars in his New Zealand shop and we're proud to be his only US dealer. Favored by David Lindley and featured in Fretboard Journal, these guitars have been hard to keep in stock. This rope-bound mahogany is the first we've been able to showcase in quite some time, and it sold within a day of us mentioning it on the website. We do have another instrument expected from Paddy within the year, please contact us if you are interested.

Burgin makes a deeper-than-standard Weissenborn-style lap acoustic, tuned to open D, or Dobro's G tuning, or any wild derivative thereof. Sonically it is very impressive. The deeper body means that the guitar has serious internal air volume, and just pushes single note lines in a throaty, resonant way. Perhaps most notable: the guitar gets louder and better as you slide up the neck, usually where most warm, woody Weissenborns get weak. Most delightful for slide players!!

Clean, beautiful construction throughout.
Mahogany top, back and sides
Rope binding
Hard-shell case

Collings UT2 Flame Mahogany

While we've admittedly come to expect nothing but the best from Collings, we can give them additional credit for constantly surprising and humbling us. This UT2 tenor ukulele is no exception. The quality of the mahogany on this model, sonically and visually is outstanding. Nicely flamed mahogany is not only a joy to look at, it seems to lend an open airy quality to the tone along with a tremendous punch. Like all of their ukes, this one is priced with a stylish hardshell case.

Pictured ukulele is not current stock. Please contact us for pictures.

Carr Rambler 1x12 Combo, Wine

One of Steve Carr's original models, the Rambler was designed to deliver a classic American 'deluxe' tone, and boy does it ever! There are several things that set this amp apart. It has a Pentode-Triode power switch, which effectively steps the power down from 28 watts pentode to 14 watts triode. These two different operation settings for the 6L6 output tubes can vary the tone from loud and punchy (Pentode) to a warmer vintage sound with thick midrange (Triode). There is a wonderful late 50s style tube tremolo that is smoother than average. However, what really sets this amp apart is the rich, complex tone it produces. Imagine the best deluxe you've ever heard, and then add in a whole new dimension of warmth with full, round overtones that sparkle and bloom in the most mesmerizing way possible. It's that good.

Class A cathode bias 6L6 output stage

Zero feedback

Single channel with reverb and tremolo

Pentode-Triode power switch

28 watts pentode

14 watts triode

Picture is not of current stock

We've taken the standard Bourgeois Country Boy and upgraded it with an Adirondack Spruce top, giving it tons of snap and dry power. This is a very light, woody-sounding guitar, with terrific punch for lead flatpicking. Great dynamic response across the whole neck--it excels when driven hard with a heavy pick. A terrific bluegrass guitar! Priced with hard case.

Mahogany back & sides
Adirondack Spruce top
1 23/32" nut width

Kevin Kopp Advanced Jumbo Madagascar

Kevin Kopp's Advanced Jumbos have been resounding successes with us here at TME--and not one has lasted more than a few days. This is the first one we've ever had in Madagascar Rosewood (Kevin is not taking orders for Brazilian guitars right now); and it's every bit as throaty and powerful as a guitar could be. This guitar resonates as much as a 60-year-old vintage Gibson, with perhaps more focus and clarity in the voice. The bass is thick, chunky and booming, and the trebles have glass-cutting snap. A world-class guitar, with gallons of tone and mojo. Priced with hard case.

Madagascar Rosewood
Adirondack Spruce
All hide glue
1 3/4" nut width
Standard Scale

Sunrise Soundhole Pickup S2 w/ Kit

Jim Kaufman's Sunrise Pickups have quite the reputation, and with good reason! They were the first magnetic soundhole pickup to produce a fine acoustic tone, and are still the choice a great many discerning players today. The reason is that no other magnetic pickup sounds quite like the Sunrise. It provides warmth and sustain in spades, and particularly shines for finger-stylists and lap-steel players. Add the SB1 preamp, or the LoZ Di box, and get ready for a trip to Tone City.

Jim only manufactures a limited number of pickups per year. We currently have them in stock.

Sunrise S2 with Installation Kit (not pre-wired) - $250.00

Sunrise S1LW with female 1/4" connector - $230.00
